The journey so far
Take the Lead Apparel is made for sporting clubs and all athletes to provide Australian made, ethical and sustainable apparel that fits every body.
Will Ong and Susan Palmer started TTL in 2020 as female footballers were not being supported with clothing that was designed for them. From there, they decided to take the lead and build a business based on the simple motto of 'a fit for every body' for all athletes.
TTL works with sporting clubs to provide kits for your teams made to best represent your communities through design, reduction of impact to the environment (we are striving to be waste free) and having a kit that fit all your members - whether you're female, male, gender fluid or non binary, we make our apparel, fitted to your body.
We specialise in creating a range of apparel for football clubs and activewear that we are proud to make in-house in Australia to ensure every step of our manufacturing cycle follows ethical practices and reduces the impact to our environment.
Made to order to reduce waste
The TTL Way
Material sourcing
Our material is made from reclaimed polyester and plastic products and is sourced from ethically responsible suppliers all of which conform to Global Recycling Standards and are certified by Control Union Certifications BV.
Printing
Our printing press is our large machine that prints directly onto paper that is then heat pressed into the material. Our printing press was a large investment we made into the business to give us direct control over quailty, design and look of all our garments.
Heat press
After printing we feed the material and printed design through the very large heat press that inbeds all our colours and designs onto the material.
Cutting
Once we have printed and pressed our material it's time to cut it into the shapes required to send to our sewing team.
We have kept this step inhouse so we can collect and recycle the offcuts we create in this phase to reduce our waste.
Sewing
We have selected a team of experienced sewers who are all small business owners in Melbourne. We work with several small business operators who sew our quality, long lasting garments for us.
Recycle after useful life
After your garments useful life we ask that you return it to us so we can recycle it and make it into somethig new. What's more, we will give you a discount on your next order for just returning your TTL gear to us - get in touch via the contact us page.
